The greatest threats to all concentric, pneumatic nebulizers are the entry of fibres and dust,
and the formation of solid precipitates or crystals in the gas orifice.
When a nebulizer is stored it should be clean and dry  -  and fitted with the soft plastic caps provided.

This photo shows the  EPOND  PEARL  cleaning device for  all  concentric glass nebulizers ...
   -  With this device a cleaning solution can be pumped manually in reverse,
through both the sample and gas passages.
Favourite cleaning solutions are -  Sigma-Aldrich RBS-25 diluted about 20x,  Deconex similarly diluted;
- or - either of these, but with the addition of 10% methanol.
When the wet-cleaning process is finished, rinse with DI water and flush dry with compressed air or inert gas. The 'Pearl' is also featured in the  EPOND  web site.

The diagram below shows the 3 main types of blockages that can occur in pneumatic concentric nebulizers :
place your mouse cursor over these blockages  to see comments about them.

If you have concentric glass  or quartz  nebulizers - you need an EPOND 'Pearl' !
